Passion for your dream is necessary to reach your goal. It's just a fact of the Law of Attraction, which is discussed extensively in the new movie The Secret.
Wayne Dyer in his book There is a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem, references a teacher in India who told his devotees that any attempt to manifest what you want in life without passion is akin to dressing up a corpse. It may look good, but it's still a lifeless corpse.
Although many people's passions begin with a personal "need", such as the need to be recognized or appreciated, the deepest type of passion is one that focuses, at least in part, on serving others. This passion is what pushed people such as Gandhi, Mother Theresa and Martin Luther King to such heights of achievements. It is fine to begin with a self-serving goal, but keep in mind that the higher your motivations (the more world-centric), the deeper your passion will be.
To encourage passion in your life, look for the enthusiasm that already exists. Think about what really revs you up. Is it your relationships? Your hobbies? Your daydreams? It's there somewhere. Think about how you can harness this passion to help you reach your goal.
Another way to encourage passion is to surround yourself with passionate people. Passion, like other states of mind, is very contagious. Passionate people will usually encourage your passions, while negative, bored people will just drag you down. The company you keep deeply affects your mood and worldview. This is another thing that The Secret Movie discusses openly and frequently.
It may be surprising, but meditation is another way to cultivate deep excitement. From the stillness and mental stability that meditation encourages, your inner voice is able to speak. This inner voice is creative and wise. It filters out the unimportant (it will never tell you to spend more time doing laundry) and reminds you of the really essential things in your life that you may not be giving enough energy to. Energy is at the core of the law of attraction.
Another good way to open yourself up to passion is to do something different and take some risks. Go into nature, take a new class, volunteer, travel to another city, or talk to a stranger. There are so many beautiful possibilities in life, so many things to see and learn and hear. Getting a taste of just a few, will encourage passion in your day to day life.
If you can't find passion than try to discover where and how you are holding this life force back. If you are not fully experiencing it, than you're blocking it somehow. Find out where and why. Once you know why (fear is always a likely culprit) than work on releasing the block.
When you can transcend the limitations of your fears, you are open to the energy of the whole universe flowing through you. It is not your energy, even your passion, but universal passion being expressed through the uniqueness of you. Knowing this might remove some of your performance anxiety. Then, the mysteries of The Secret will truly be revealed to you.
