Christian priorities
Mike Fletcher
Jesus isn’t interested in people generally knowing about him. He wants us to know Him. Our success in life depends on how well we know the Master. If we do not truly know Jesus, we will never find real joy and happiness or real success in anything. For when you come to know Jesus, you will come to be more like him. They joke about people who have been happily married for a long time. How they dress alike, have the same mannerisms… sometimes start to say the same thing at the same time. It’s because they know each other so well that they begin to think and speak and behave like each other. Those are the successful marriages. But nearly 60 percent of all marriages, on average, end in divorce. Marriage couples tell us the number one cause of divorce in our society is a lack of communications. Couples drift apart because they don’t spend time together. And when they drift apart, it’s all too easy to break apart. It’s the same with our faith. How much time have you given Christ this week? Jesus is lonesome for you. He wants you to spend time with him. To pray, to study his Word. Like a marriage that breaks down when the couple goes their own way, so will your faith and spiritual life when you stop spending time with Jesus. Jesus became what we are that he might make us what he is. To be like him, we first have to know him. There is only one gospel message: Jesus Christ. Do you know him? If you don’t you have missed the message. But the good news is that he is knocking on the door of your heart right now, waiting for you to open that door and let him in. If you do know Christ, your job is to tell the world the message.
